Toronto Photographer: Scarborough Bluffs Maternity Session

Hi friends – I know it’s been a while and I’m not going to make huge promises that I’m going to blog every week. But definitely a lot more than I have, forgive me okay?

So first I’ll start with the big news I’m back living in Toronto full time. I am so so happy to be back. The air is different here and I feel inspired already. Tom will be joining me out here shortly too :)

I can finally say I’ve been to the Scarborough Bluffs after so many years of living in Toronto, I have no idea what I ever did that everyone kept this place a secret from meeeee. So consider me a friend and – if you’re ever visiting it’s worth a stop.

All this thanks to Rena and Toni for choosing the Scarborough Bluffs as a location for their maternity shoot. I am in this weird stage of adulthood where my friends are having babies. My own friends – not a distant older cousin or a friend of a friend. It’s this bittersweet moment and I cannot help but picture little mini version of my friends and that on it’s own is like thinking of clumsy puppies which makes me happier already :)

So – major internet hugs from me to you <3

Awesome Report – Summer Edition

IPSY. It took me some time to hop on to the bandwagon of glam bags. I tried Birchbox and BoxyCharm as well but I’m only keeping my IPSY subscription active. I receive 5 beauty samples a month based on an initial survey about my makeup preferences and skill. From then for $10 including shipping the makeup gods show up monthly at my door :P I’ve discovered so many new brands and products this way while still getting to test highly talked about products. July’s bag pictured below included: Tarte Bronzer, Nicka K New York HQ Quad Eyeshadow, Coolway Beachy Salt Spray, Olehenriksen Cleansing Cloths and BellaPierre Cosmetics Mineral Lipstick.

inkbox Tattoos with No RERETS – like not even a single letter. I love this for so many reasons like the fact that these are organic tattoos? I did not know such a thing even existed. they’re temporary and this is a Toronto startup. By two brothers and I’m all for doing things like this with your siblings. Tattoos last 2 weeks and they appear over time – like magic. This is why I am backing their kickstarter and you should too :)

Speaking of siblings my sister shared this Buzzfeed 26 real, relentless and eternal struggles of #GrowingUpWithSiblings article with me and it is everything.

With Food + Love Basil Roasted Eggplant with Heirlooms + a Balsamic Drizzle is the pretties thing you will see and devour all summer. I cannot say enough about Sherri’s blog. She has such a creative approach to food and her photography will leave you drooling. If you are tired of seeing the same version of boring recipes posted all the time I suggest heading to her website pronto for things like Loaded Spring Fries with Green Gooddess Tahini and Strawberry Shortcake Donuts with Basil Macerated Strawberries + Coconut Cream WHAAAAATTT?! both on repeat at our place.

Summer Outdoor Farm Wedding – Chelsea and John

Wedding Venue: Still Pond Farm || DJ: Still the One DJ Services || Caterer: Premiere Caterers || Cake: Custom Dreams by Verity|| Flowers: Georges’ Flowers|| Wedding Dress: Renaissance Bridal ||Bridal Hair and MakeUp: Tranquility Salon

Chelsea and John’s beautiful love story as told by the bride <3 And of course props to John for such an amazing proposal story:

” I’ve actually heard of John’s name my whole life growing up, but I never actually met him until about two and a half years ago. We have all the same mutual friends but just never crossed one another’s path. I saw his name come up on my “friends you may know” list on facebook and sent him a friend request. A few weeks later two of our best friends were having a going-away party at the Trindle Inn. I’m not much of a bar person and neither is John so it was pretty unusual that we met there. We didn’t say a word to one another, but I recognized him from facebook. I messaged him on facebook after the party and we’ve pretty much spent every day together since then. It was so easy to fall in love with him and Teddy of course!

The night John proposed was January 18th, 2014, probably the coldest night of the year! We didn’t have any plans that Saturday evening. He thought it would be a good idea to go out to his parents’ house for pizza and a movie. John can be an awkward person and on this night he took awkward to a whole new level. I kind of felt like something was up. Once we got to his parents’ house his dad made a comment about how clear that sky was that night. I knew they had a telescope so I asked them if they could get it out. John practically minored in astronomy in college, so he showed me the whole sky and explained everything in detail. He moved the scope to the other side of the yard and had me look at the constellation Orion. I thought that I couldn’t get the telescope to focus because Orion looked like a big blob of sparkles! When I took the lens off to clean it there was the ring! The big blob of sparkles was the ring! I screamed and said yes before John could even get a word out. He got down on one knee and proposed. Best night ever.

Favorite Summer Reads

I made it a goal to read more books this year – 25 books to be exact and I got on such a roll I already met my goal. It’s been so nice curling up with a book and tea again I cannot even begin to express. My preferred method is the actual printed copies but I did also upload a small number to my Kindle for purely convince reasons.

Anywayyyy….. here are my favorites for this summer. I think these are all worth a look and would all make great gifts.

tiny beautiful things : advice on love and life from Dear Sugar – Cheryl Strayed
for me is the book on how to do life. Sometimes when I have a difficult time making big decisions I wished for a book on how to do life – I understand how ridiculous this sound trust me but I think Dear Sugar is just that book. It’s straight up no chaser style advice. I found myself and my experiences in so many of the stories.

Chasers of the Light – Tyler Knott Gregson. This this book reminds me on how we can all be artists. this to me is the modern Rumi. Words straight from the heart put in simple words. I love the use of imagery as well.

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing – Marie KondoIn the last year or so I’ve become more interested in organization. Mainly from stumbling on Doitonadime and My so called home youtube channels and getting sucked in to watching video upon video on how to organize your pantry, your drawers etc. I was intrigued reading reviews regarding this “life changing” book. Just like the author states no one really teaches you the art of tyding up and it is definetly not on my list of strengths. So I gave this book a shot and seriously I will join the cliche and say this book was life changing. It only got 4/5 for me though because I thought it really was stretched out and goofy in certain parts but the important part here is that it is solid advice and a great how to.

Nom Nom Paleo: Food for Humans – Michelle Tam Since completing our Whole 30 experience (which if you are interested please read our Whole 30 week by week review) We have been trying to maintain those amazing benefits like high energy and falling asleep like a baby and that’s where this book comes in handy. The author has a current blog where we frequently visit but it is nice to have a hard copy especially since this is such a fun cookbook.
